The metal used for battery contact will not hold to the solder And even then, solder on something rusted not only is a bad idea but I won''t stick at all But let''s say you manage to put a ball of solder on the contact, the battery may not fit anymore

Figured I would post this in case anyone else had a similar issue. The fix for me was about $8 in hardware. I was trying to disconnect a battery from a riding mower recently and the screw had become so rusted/corroded onto the lead terminal that when I tried to loosen it up, the terminal (poor design in my opinion) just ripped right off.
They may look the same on the outside but there are big differences in construction inside the battery. As stated, new batteries should always be replaced in sets. If you replace just a single battery the whole battery bank will be compromised by the differences in performance. If you must replace just one, check with a golf cart company.
Hi everyone, sorry that my first post is a trouble shooting question. On my K30 the small gray plastic retainer that keeps the battery in place has broken. The battery is now just held in place by the door and it is working - but for how long? Has this happened to anyone else and did you get it repaired or just leave it?
Yesterday we were in the middle of BFE wilderness and our lead rider comes to an abrupt stop, no electrics. Checking connections we find the battery post loose, which had broken or come loose from the plates in the battery ( a new battery) Thankfully we were near the top of the mountain, so with a brief tow back to the top he was able to …
The clamp on the positive battery cable is cracked and seperated, while all sides are making contact to the actual post. No problems had occured, until today. Sometimes when I would signal, or break, or turn on my lights, my sound system would get screwy. It would ''pop'' and the CD player would reset itself.
so here''s the update, I went with the nut splitter, and the whole post broke off, looks like there''s basically a bolt head underneath the lead,, anyway the whole post came off, I cut all connectors and replace them, created the new post using the trick I saw online with the anchor Bolt, and a couple of nuts and washers, I was nervous to drill …
Disconnect the terminal clamp from the negative (-) battery post. Repeat for the positive (+) post. Deep clean the posts with a battery terminal cleaning tool or 120-grit sandpaper.
According to the plating Instructable, you should use a low voltage power source and plan to make multiple coats of nickel to get a nice, even finish.I made about four passes of about an hour with 2 AA batteries (3 volts) and saw very small improvements each time. I decided to go back to my 9 volt AC adapter and although it seemed to make bubbles about the …
Contact a local Battery distributor. Often times they can re-pour a new lead post, that looks like a newer style battery so it would be worth seeing what they want to repair it right. There are other methods and home remedies which are not as good. You can tap a screw into the base of the post, but like I said it is not as good a repair.
Note: This is a repost from the Gen 1Powertrain forums as the issue is electrical wires. Apologies for the repost I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze LT and today while cleaning the negative battery terminal with a …
(2) Since I''ve already reconnected the positive battery cable to the battery, can I now safely reconnect the large negative battery cable to the the battery - even with that small black wire disconnected. (3) If I can and do reconnect the negative battery cable to the negative post of the battery, will my car start and will it be safe to …
If the toothbrush isn''t getting things done, you could use a battery terminal brush with stiffer bristles to get the job done. Sandpaper. Grab a piece of sandpaper the size of a credit card and fold it in half. Wrap it around the battery post and push it down into the battery. Turn it around, just as would when you''re tuning the radio.
When replacing a battery terminal bolt, it is important to take safety precautions to avoid any potential hazards.. Short circuits can occur when the positive and negative terminals of a battery come into contact with each other. This can cause sparks, heat, and even an explosion. To prevent short circuits, it is important to disconnect the …
The posts on the brand new battery are apparently a bit smaller than the battery I just removed. (will solve that tomorrow with battery post shims). However, in wrestling with the post clamp trying (unsuccessfully) to tighten the too big clamps on the too small posts, I broke a connection on the negative cable.
Check the length of the battery cable bolts you are using. I bought a battery 1 time and the bolts that came with the battery were to long and bottoming out against the top of the battery when tightening. If they bottom out it can crack the post when you tighten because it will push upward against the post when it bottoms out.
Over time, alkaline batteries will leak and corrode any metal parts in your toy. The reality of the situation is that most old used toys (e.g. on eBay) that are broken can be fixed by repairing the corroded pieces; many times, this is as simple as repairing or replacing the battery contacts/terminals.
If the battery terminals have damage, you will need to replace your battery. You can now poor a little baking soda on each terminal/ post and the wiring …
New terminals won''t work well if the battery post is corroded. Clean battery corrosion with a mixture of baking soda and water solution. Wear eye protection and gloves. Use a toothbrush to apply your solution to the …
The bad news is that the negative battery contact was badly corroded, despite being gold-plated. A mm or so at the end of the contact mostly dissolved, leaving only little metal flakes. Another mm or two is still a continuous piece of metal, but thinned to a fraction of its original thickness by corrosion.
It won''t be that simple. If the battery has leaked and the contact is corroded beyond repair then the rest of the board is likely to be destroyed beyond repair. The last thing to fail is the battery contact (as it''s the thickest metal). The first things to fail are thin board traces and vias. The best solution is $160 for a PM5.
When you open the battery cover you find the + contacts withdraw into the frame, when you open the mouse up the + contacts have broken away from the feeble plastic mounts inside and have been pushed too far …

The battery kept going dead within a day or two so he disconnected the battery terminals in the trunk after charging the battery. While he was working in the trunk repairing a rusted tail light connector, he managed to break the mechanical lock mechanism so that opening the trunk with a master key was no longer possible.

This causes a discharge. If the positive battery terminal experiences a short circuit, it can burn the vehicle''s body or cause an explosion. A loose battery terminal cannot make contact with the battery, which prevents …
It puts stress on the mod''s chip, if chip or pcb has been exposed to eliquid or something else, it may short it out (see this previous post). Also as your mod stops charging at 100%, the battery may discharge while idle, since there''s no real "off" switch, mod will start charging up to 100% again and repeat.
Locate the terminals on the top of the car battery. Next to each terminal is a positive (+) or negative (-) sign, indicating the charge. The positive terminal looks to be in working order, but the negative end has a lot of corrosion …

Thanks for the great post. Turns out if I remove the battery, I can get underneath it and feel it (a very small amount of it is exposted). Tried to just twist it with my finger to not avail and it was too thin and too hard to see for me to latch onto it with pliers (though possibly could work).

Read this blog post for instructions on quick fix for broken battery terminal clamp. Identify the Problem If the loose battery cable is causing problems with starting your car, or you want to tighten the connection for optimal performance.
Buy a crimping tool, hacking this connection may lead to ground problems. I don''t think the broken connector can be removed from the wire easily and without chewing up the wire itself. fyi - If you cut the broken connector off the ground wire, there may not be enough length to reach the battery terminal.
Once all that is remove the outer shell which includes the lens plastic housing can be removed. However, in order to get to those battery contacts you also have to desolder 4 contact points for the battery contacts as well desolder the black ground cable, so at least 5 points in total which are on the top board ( power board ).
For effective battery maintenance, consider using an AutoZone battery terminal brush cleaner. To deal with corrosion on battery terminal posts, employ the terminal cleaning brush to clean tapered posts and the mating surfaces of battery cables.
